How to Handle Complaints

May 12, 2024

Even as the early church grew rapidly and experienced the power of the Holy Spirit, it still faced real, human challenges—including complaints and discontent. There is a moment in Acts when the Greek-speaking believers raised concerns about their widows being overlooked in the daily food distribution. Instead of ignoring or silencing the complainers, the early church focused on the actual problem. They gathered everyone, delegated responsibility to qualified, Spirit-filled leaders, and stayed focused on their primary calling—prayer and teaching God’s Word. This approach helped the church grow stronger and continue its mission. The big takeaway for us is that when we stay committed to God’s purpose, let His Spirit lead, and handle conflict with humility and a focus on the mission, we become a powerful part of Jesus’ continuing work in the world.
