Did you know that each of us worships something?

It could be our job, sports, money, another person, a rock band, ourselves, spirituality, or any number of other things. Whether we realize it or not, the area that we spend most of our time, attention, money, thoughts, and desires on shows us what we worship. We put that as first place in our lives, and what we do and say and think revolves around that thing.

So the question becomes what do you worship? Where do you long to be? What are you living your life for and how do you make your decisions? Who influences you and who are you becoming?

Here at West Valley we believe the answer lies not in worshiping things in this world, but directing our worship to the One who made the world. Recognizing who God is, inviting Him to be first place in our lives, and desiring to be changed by Him so we can impact those around us. It means letting go of the areas in our lives that turn our attention, change our focus, and distract us from getting to know and walking with the God of the Bible. We want to be people who choose to put God first in everything, listen to His words, and make choices each day that honor Him and bring glory to His name.

Meeting together on Sunday morning is just one small part of what worship looks like. You’ll find at West Valley that we like to be creative and relevant in the songs we sing, the sermons we learn from, the resources we produce, and the events we hang at. On any given Sunday we might show a TV or video clip, watch a live drama, use various multimedia, or have an interactive display all for the purpose of turning our hearts, minds, and thoughts to God. It is a time where we can be renewed, energized, and prepared to continue our worship the rest of the week.
