Here at West Valley we value a couple things that might be outside of the norm. Building on the idea that worship is more than just meeting together on Sunday mornings, we believe worship can and should take place throughout the week regardless of where we are or what we are doing. We can always strive to bring God the glory through any situation! Another concept we value is recognizing that the church is not a building, but it is a community of believers that are engaged and invested in each other and in the community around them. A community that strives to serve God by serving others.

Since these two ideas are foundational for us, and with the desire to worship God outside the box, we began a ministry that we like to call Up/Down Sundays. The idea is to bring “Up There… Down Here.” To bring God’s value for people, his kingdom perspective, from Up There … Down Here, into the communities we live in and the people we meet along life’s journey.

So what does that look like? Well, once every couple of months, instead of meeting here in our church building to worship, we take our worship out into the community and serve others. This can look like a bunch of different things – doing yard work for the elderly, picking up trash in our neighborhood parks, painting a neighbors house, or another idea that someone from our community comes up with. Our intent is simply to meet others in our community by serving them, showing them that there are people that care and are interested in them. By doing this we believe we serve God by serving others, and that brings glory to Him!
