No matter where you look or where you live, there are always those around us who could use a little extra. And as followers of God we believe that our resources and finances belong to Him and should be used for His glory. With this in mind, we developed a ministry called Feed the Hungry.

Our goal once a month is to gather as a church family, bring lunch items, make tasty lunches, and go into downtown Portland to deliver them to people in need that we meet on the street. The idea is to not only provide a physical need to those we meet, but to provide an emotional and spiritual one as well when we get to talk with people and sometimes pray with them. This ministry is valuable because it reminds us to be humble, to serve others, and to recognize all people as God’s creation.

This ministry doesn’t stop there though – it turned into other opportunities as well. Opportunities like collecting warm clothing to hand out in the winter, serving food in soup kitchens, and delivering bread to people at the Welfare Office. We keep our eyes and ears open for other ways to serve those in need, and do so as worship to our God.
