One of our favorite phrases here at West Valley is “People accepted, lives changed. Changed lives engaged to impact their communities.” As we come to know God each day, and as He changes us to act, think, and live according to His values, we desire to stay engaged with Him and each other, impacting the community around us. We want to see all of Hillsboro, Oregon come to know God in a personal way!

A great way to do this is by supporting our local school system and encouraging the teachers, staff, and students that work and attend there. The closest elementary school to us is Brookwood, and we are fully committed to doing our best to stay active and involved there.

What does that look like? Lots of things! We built science gardens for each class to plant flowers and vegetables and watch them grow, do yard work and landscaping to keep the school grounds neat, bring volunteers into the classrooms each week to assist the teachers, make care packages for the teachers and staff during the holidays, and provide funds to send classes on field trips and purchase items for the classroom.

We love being a part of Brookwood School, and look for as many opportunities to support and care for them as we can. That’s just one way we can worship God by serving others and impacting those in our community to give God the glory.
